The look and feel of your site is created by a combination of style and layout choices. Design changes are made one at a time via the SNO Design Options page and the other sections under Appearance (Widgets page, Master Colors, Customize Live, Design Snapshots) using trial and error. It can be a slow and tedious process at times, but offers max customization.
We recommend creating a Design Snapshot of your current settings before making any major changes; this section is also found under Appearance. That way you'll be able to revert back to your old settings at any time. Once you've made substantial progress, create another Design Snapshot to save your new look. You can create as many of those looks as you want!
Use our help site tutorials and our support ticket system to guide you in your design process and we'll be happy to help you along the way as you have questions!
Take the steps below to customize your site further.
Step 1: Customize Your Style Choices.
Change the fonts, background, general appearance, and even your site’s favicon and bullet points by using the tools provided under General Design and Layout section on the SNO Design Options page.
Step 2: Create a custom header graphic.
Your header graphic
should have your logo, organization name, tagline, and any other essential information about your program. Your graphic should be sized to 1400px wide by 200px tall (max) or 980px wide by 100px tall (min). You can upload your header graphic in the Custom Header Graphic section on the SNO Design Options page.
Step 3: Prominently showcase your top stories and customize how they're displayed.
There are several ways to customize your top story area. The most dynamic method is via the Home Top Full Width widget area within the Widget control panel. Simply add one or more of the many available widgets to this widget area, such as the Grid widget, Carousel widget, or Category widget. You can also use the Above Header Widget area to display a Carousel, Grid, or Full Screen widget before getting to the header image.
Step 4: Understand and choose your homepage structure.
By reading the Homepage Widget Area Map section on the SNO Design Options page, you can view a diagram of the different areas of your homepage.
In the Widget Area Configuration section on the SNO Design Options page, you can choose which widget layout you want for the top widget areas of your homepage.
Step 5: Arrange the widgets on your homepage.
Your homepage is constructed of widgets (individual blocks of content). By going to the Widget control panel, you can drag and drop individual widgets into the widget areas of your site.
Step 6: Customize your widget design.
Each widget on your site can be assigned to one of our widget styles
that you can customize in the Widget Styles section of the SNO Design Options page. In addition, SNO widgets can each be assigned custom colors and styles in the controls for the individual widget on the Widget control panel page.
