I've put this handbook together over the years. It is cobbled together from various sources (which I've hopefully credited) and reflects some of my own writing as well. I teach a class which produces a yearbook, a news website (hosted on SNO), and a quarterly news magazine. So this handbook is designed with my class in mind.

I am posting a link to it here should it be of use to other teachers.

It looks like I am one of the few posters here thus far. I hope this new resource will prove useful to others in the field.

  Excellent handbook. This is my first year as adviser to the Titan Shield, San Marino High School's student newspaper. I'm taking baby steps in getting up and running, so this really helps me with ideas about how to incorporate pertinent information in one source.

  Glad to hear this is helpful! There are lots of great resources out there for new advisers. The LA Times and Southern California Journalism Education Association sponsor a workshop for students and advisers at CSUN in October if you are interested. All my best as you get your program going.   Hi - I just started looking around the support opportunities on this site.  I really appreciate anyone sharing what they've created to teach Journalism and Newspaper.  This is my first year teach 9-12 grades all in one combined class and I'm on a big learning curve!
