Whether you’re a veteran journalism adviser or recently assigned to teach the course for the first time, we’ve created these lessons to teach and practice writing, reporting, multimedia, and principles of journalism that are free to view, download and share as teachers and students alike.
Each lesson includes a Google Slides presentation and interactive activities or assignments to share with your students, or have them download, and complete at their own pace. The lessons are also listed in an intentional order as a guide to build off of one another as you and your students work through them.
When looking through the curriculum, you’ll notice there are many worksheets that are intended for students to fill in and edit. If you can’t print them out, save and edit these Google Docs by following the steps below.
If you or your students have a Google Drive account:
- While viewing the document, click “File” in the upper left corner
- Click “Make a copy”
- Give the document a name and select a location to save it within your Google Drive account. The copy in your Drive should now be editable.
If you or your students do not have a Google Drive account:
- While viewing the document, click “File” in the upper left corner
- Click “Download”
- Select the editable file format that you would like to download to your device (e.g. DOCX or PDF)
