Your SNO site is built on the WordPress.org content management system, which is highly customizable and interactive. One of the main ways to interact with your audience is through multimedia, including video, audio, infographics, polls, and social media.
Each of the those media are most often added to websites using what are called Embed Codes.
An embed code is a block of HTML which is embedded in the page-source and creates the media object on your site in doing so. It needs to be obtained from a site already hosting the media (e.g. Issuu, Youtube, Google Docs, Vimeo, infogr.am, Spotify, Twitter, etc.), because the embed code points back to that site.
Basically, this means you can do just about anything with your SNO site by creating something interactive elsewhere and embedding that content directly on your site without having to upload it and take up space.
You can embed almost anything, but here are a few suggestions:
- Tweets or Instagram posts
- Audio Clips
- Podcasts
- Images
- Timelines
- Graphics and/or Infographics
A classic example of this is adding an interactive infographic. A common practice is to create that infographic within a platform like Canva or infogr.am. Once done, the service then gives you the option to share your media. Included in those sharing options is the option to Embed. Copy the long embed code provided and go back to your SNO site to paste it somewhere like in a story or a widget.
