To earn the writing badge you must have one piece published to Best of SNO.
To submit to Best of SNO go to that tab on your site’s dashboard. Once there you will see a list of eligible stories and a button to submit those stories.
Here are the guidelines that make things eligible:
- Stories must be at least 300 words in length, videos must be between 1 and 5 minutes and podcasts must be between 5 and 15 minutes.
- If the story contains images, they must be attributed and captioned. Promotional images are acceptable for reviews, but they must be attributed properly. Any necessary releases and/or licenses for use of photos, videos, and/or music have been secured. Unlicensed use of copyrighted materials will result in immediate disqualification.
- Stories must have a byline with the writer's first and last name.
- Stories must be submitted within 60 days of being published.
- Only one story can be submitted from your site on any given day.
- All writing, video, and audio content must be created by publication student staff members. No fabricated, plagiarized, or AI-generated content is used.
Keep in mind, that just because your story meets those guidelines that does not automatically mean it will be published. Our reviewers typically receive over 100 submissions to Best of SNO each day, and only the top 10-15% end up getting published.
